The municipality of Fnideq held a session at the building associated with the Ministry of Agriculture in Fnideq - Qammoua, following directives from the Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Abbas al-Haj Hassan. The meeting began with a call from the Minister of Agriculture from outside Lebanon, during which he pledged to those present to hold accountable and punish anyone who attacks the Qammoua forests and distorts its natural, environmental, and touristic features.
For his part, the mayor expressed gratitude to Minister al-Haj Hassan for his attention and affirmed "taking all measures to limit the perpetration of these crimes against the forests and fully holding accountable not only those who sell this timber but also the buyers." The attendees urged all security agencies to "monitor and track these individuals and impose the necessary penalties on the violators." They called for the enforcement of legal proceedings against wood traders that have been pending for years.
They also demanded necessary support for the agriculture center in terms of equipment and tools that aid in stopping the encroachment on forests, as well as support for the Internal Security Forces center with special mechanisms to facilitate the execution of essential tasks. They affirmed their support for the army and all security agencies to achieve the desired goal of protecting the forests.
