A Spanish press report revealed on Wednesday the difficulty of finding a date to introduce French star Kylian Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain with his new club, which is likely to be Real Madrid. Mbappé officially announced a few days ago that the current season will be his last with PSG, after which he will leave on a free transfer.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Real Madrid will be competing in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1, followed by the start of Euro 2024 on June 14, making it challenging to find a suitable date for the player’s presentation with his new team before traveling to Germany.
Although Mbappé will play his last match with PSG in the cup final on May 25, one week before the Champions League final, it will be difficult for Real Madrid to announce the transfer during that week. The report also explained that the problem arises from the fact that starting June 3, it will be impossible to present Mbappé, as he will be with the French national team in camp.
The regulations of UEFA state that for this tournament (the Euro), "participating teams must arrive at their main camp at least 5 days before their first group match." However, the newspaper noted that there is only one way for Mbappé to debut with his new club before the Euro begins: an agreement between him or the club and the French Federation to postpone his call-up for a while. In this case only, Mbappé would wear his new team's jersey in the early days of the coming month.
If this team is indeed Real Madrid, it means they will have to present the player 48 or 72 hours after the Champions League final, regardless of the result, or wait until France is eliminated from the Euro.
