Arrest of Russian Deputy Defense Minister on Bribery Charges

The Russian Federal Investigative Committee announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov on suspicion of receiving a bribe, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS. The agency stated that Ivanov is suspected of receiving a large bribe amounting to one million rubles. According to the criminal law of the Russian Federation under which he is charged, the official faces a penalty of up to 15 years in prison. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin was informed of Ivanov's arrest, and the Russian Defense Minister was also notified.
