Skulls, Bones, and Human Remains... The Depths of the Asiy al-Zand Cave Puzzle Syria

"A place where the entrance is lost and the exit is born." This famous Syrian proverb indicates the danger of the area, and its words have turned into reality. The mystery of the disappearance of the child Qais al-Zarzour in the Ain al-Dalba cave in the province of Tartus is still preoccupying Syrian circles significantly. After the family confirmed that their son went missing based on information indicating he left the cave and not that he was inside it, a new revelation about the location emerged. Eyewitnesses from the local area affirmed they had previously found strange items there, such as skeletons and human remains. They also revealed terrifying details about the Dalba cave, where the young man Qais disappeared, according to local media.

One witness reported that they once found a jawbone with human teeth, a skull, a large bone, and human remains. Another added that these items were found at specific points within the cave, scattered across many areas. They also confirmed that the cave extends with its many tunnels in various directions. In testimonies from one of the residents who volunteered to search for the missing young man inside the cave, it was stated that they entered with a team from the Syrian Civil Defense; while the search ended on the first day, they discovered new tunnels and passages the following day. There, the young man confirmed that the search team found human skulls, bones, and human remains, which terrified them and forced them to exit the location.

It is noteworthy that the Civil Defense had searched the cave at least four times without success, and volunteers also entered the cave and searched without finding any trace indicating the location of the missing young man. Meanwhile, the father of the Syrian student expressed doubts about the narrative of his son's friends who were with him at the time of the incident, indicating that Qais’ disappearance occurred around 12 PM local time, but his friends informed him about his disappearance around 3 PM, three hours after the event.

Al-Zarzour and eight of his friends, who are third-year high school students, visited the Ain al-Dalba cave, which gained wide fame due to filming scenes from the "Al-Zand" series there, on the morning of last Monday with the aim of visiting and exploring it, before everything ended unexpectedly. According to the account of al-Zarzour's friends, they all exited the cave together after entering to explore; however, their friend decided to return to the cave and never emerged again. Despite extensive searches by rescue teams and locals inside the Ain al-Dalba cave, no trace of Qais al-Zarzour has been found. Meanwhile, security authorities have opened an investigation into the incident, with no suspicion of criminal activity thus far.
