The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "on the night of September 18, 2023, in the Naameh coastal area, two armed assailants attempted to rob the victim, Hussein Karneib (born in 2002, Lebanese), of his motorcycle by force. When he resisted, one of them fired a gun at the young man. He was hit multiple times in the back and leg, and the assailants managed to steal the motorcycle and fled to an unknown location. The injured was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Immediately, orders were given to the intelligence division to carry out procedures at the crime scene, identify the perpetrators, and apprehend them. It was discovered that the assailants had arrived at the scene on a motorcycle. After executing the robbery and shooting the victim, they headed to the Borj al-Barajneh area in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
As a result of intensive follow-up, the specialized units in the division were able to identify the assailants as: H. H. (born in 2006, Lebanese) and L. Sh. (born in 2005, Syrian). Following the follow-up conducted by the division patrols, they succeeded in arresting them in Nabatiyeh and seizing the weapon used in the murder.
During the investigation, they confessed that they formed a gang specializing in armed motorcycle thefts and had carried out many such operations in areas of Beirut and Mount Lebanon. They added that during their attempt to steal a motorcycle in Naameh on September 18, 2023, the victim attempted to resist, prompting the first assailant to fire multiple shots at him, killing him. They then stole the motorcycle and fled to Borj al-Barajneh, later selling it in Sabra.
The necessary legal action was taken against them, and they were detained along with the seized items based on the judiciary's directives."
