Kuwait's Amir and UAE President Hold Talks Following Kuwait's Parliament Dissolution

Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, received a phone call from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan following the announcement of the dissolution of the National Assembly and the suspension of several articles of the constitution. Bin Zayed expressed that "the United Arab Emirates stands by the State of Kuwait concerning all measures and decisions taken to maintain its stability." He stated that "the stability of Kuwait is part of the stability of the UAE due to the strong and close brotherly relations between them." For his part, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for "this generous gesture and the sincere brotherly sentiments that embody the depth of the good relations linking the two countries and their brotherly peoples." The Amir of Kuwait had previously announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and the suspension of certain constitutional articles for a period not exceeding four years, explaining that he made a difficult decision to save the country.
