The Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Micheál Martin, arrived this evening at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, heading an official delegation for a visit to Lebanon that will last until next Monday. During his visit, he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdullah Bou Habib, and visit the southern region to inspect his country's forces operating under "UNIFIL." Micheál Martin was welcomed at the airport by the Irish Ambassador to Cairo and appointed to Lebanon, Nola O'Brien, representative of the Minister of National Defense Maurice Sleem, Brigadier General Rabi Rustom, the honorary consul of Ireland in Lebanon George Siam, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Osama Khashab, and a delegation from the Irish battalion working in southern Lebanon.
