UK Receives Woman and Three Children from ISIS Families via SDF

The Syrian Democratic Forces in northeastern Syria announced that they handed over a woman and three children from the detention centers of ISIS fighters' families to a British delegation. The Kurdish self-administration indicated in a statement that they "delivered to Britain a woman and three children at the conclusion of a meeting that brought together local officials and a British delegation led by Anne Snow, the special representative of the United Kingdom in Syria." A source from the Kurdish self-administration confirmed that the four "were in the Roj camp," one of the camps where ISIS families are held, alongside the Al-Hol camp. The British Foreign Office stated that British officials "facilitated the repatriation of British nationals from Syria to the UK." They noted that the operation "aligns with a long-standing policy that considers all requests for consular assistance from the British consulate in Syria on a case-by-case basis, taking into account all relevant circumstances, including national security." The last repatriation of foreign nationals from terrorist detention centers in northeastern Syria occurred on May 7, when the United States announced the return of 11 Americans, including five minors. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated at that time that, in addition to its citizens, the operation also allowed the return of six Canadians, four Dutch individuals, and one Finn, including eight children. In December 2023, the self-administration handed over a woman and five children from terrorist family detention centers to Britain.
