Qatari Official Sells Mansion to Member of Royal Family

Bloomberg reported on one of the most expensive home sales in London for 2023, with the seller being Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the buyer a member of the ruling family. The American agency indicated that the Qatari Prime Minister sold a mansion in the upscale Mayfair neighborhood to another royal family member for £39 million ($49 million) in October, with the mansion classified as a Grade II listed property (of special interest), according to informed sources. The sold mansion is located between Hyde Park and Berkeley Square in the British capital, London, and was purchased by the Qatari Prime Minister in 2021. The identity of the new buyer has not been disclosed. The agency noted that "Sheikh Mohammed negotiated directly with his royal counterpart regarding the sale." The agency also stated, "However, some property owners, including members of the Qatari royal family and the Al-Khayat family, which owns extensive industries in the Gulf state, have considered selling mansions in London over the past 12 months."
