The U.S. military announced today, Tuesday, the destruction of 7 missiles, 3 drones, and 3 weapons storage containers belonging to the Houthis. Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported that 6 U.S. and British airstrikes occurred in the Al-Fazah area of Al-Tahita District and Al-Jabana in western Al-Hudaydah, Yemen. The Red Sea is a key route for internet traffic between the Middle East, Africa, and Europe via undersea cables that carry 99% of intercontinental data. The Houthis claim they are targeting ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or those transporting goods to or from Israel, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli attack since October 7. Last Thursday, the group's leader in Yemen, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, announced an expansion of the group's attacks on ships linked to Israel to include those that avoid transit in the Red Sea and sail in the Indian Ocean towards an alternative route that passes around the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa.
