Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo married his long-time partner, model Georgina Rodriguez, in a private civil ceremony held in Cascais, Portugal, on Tuesday. The marriage comes about a year after they announced their engagement.
According to a press release, the ceremony was described as "intimate and private," attended by a select few, with their five children participating in the occasion.
Ronaldo, 41, shared the news by posting a picture of his and Georgina’s hands adorned with wedding rings on social media, captioning it simply: "CG".
The marriage took place on August 11, exactly one year after Georgina, 32, announced her engagement to Ronaldo by posting a photo with her engagement ring. She wrote: "Yes, I do. In this life and my lifetime."
Ronaldo and Georgina’s relationship began in 2017, after they met at a "Gucci" store where she was working. They made their public debut as a couple at the "The Best" FIFA awards ceremony in Zurich, evolving into one of the most talked-about romances in sports and celebrity circles.
Ronaldo discussed in Georgina’s reality show "I Am Georgina" about their relationship’s beginnings, stating he initially didn't expect it to grow so strong until he realized that she was "the woman of his life."
