Trump Visits the Border with Mexico to Confirm Opposition to Immigration

As part of his campaign for the 2024 presidential election, Donald Trump is heading to Texas on Sunday, where he intends to emphasize his strict anti-immigration stance that emerged during his presidency. In recent weeks, the tone of speeches delivered by the former Republican president in his campaign has become extremely aggressive, to the point of describing illegal immigrants as "poisoning the blood of our country" and likening his political opponents to "insects."

Less than two months before the first primary elections, and despite the legal actions taken against him, Trump remains the frontrunner within the Republican camp according to polls. According to media reports, the billionaire Republican plans to distribute food to the law enforcement officers that Texas has mobilized to try to reduce the crossing of illegal immigrants across the border.

He will be accompanied by Republican Governor Greg Abbott, who is preparing to sign a measure approved by the Texas legislature that would make the illegal entry of immigrants a crime under state law. The legislation would give the state authority to arrest and deport them back to Mexico. Abbott stated that this "provides Texas with new tools to combat illegal border crossings. Texas continues to maintain its path amidst the border crisis faced by President Joe Biden."

Abbott and Trump accuse the current president of neglecting illegal immigration at the southern border. Most of the migrants seeking to enter the United States come from Ecuador, Colombia, Haiti, Cuba, Venezuela, Guatemala, and Honduras. Like Trump, Abbott supports building a wall along the border.
