The "Military Retirees Movement" confirmed in a statement, "the continuation of its future movements after the blessed Eid Al-Fitr, while also reorganizing its ranks in a manner distinct from what has recently occurred." It called on "everyone to acknowledge the assaults on our rights, especially since the violation of rights has affected both services and pensions, and the public administrations have been appeased under the guise of productivity, targeting armed forces and retirees in the state, with politicians and representatives accepting this political reality."
It expressed regret that "employees who believe this assistance is solely their right have accepted salary cuts as if they will never leave their positions, or that they will never fall ill and need to take leave," asserting that "this injustice will negatively impact any municipal and parliamentary elections, as the number of retirees, both civilian and military, and active service families from the armed forces exceeds one million, and they will not cast their votes for those who have starved them."
It regarded Prime Minister Najib Mikati as "responsible for the social and moral collapse resulting from the starvation of a large segment of society, and for the hardships faced by families, as there are bills that will not be paid and taxes that will not be settled, not because they do not want to pay, but because their salaries are insufficient for their electricity bills."
The movement called for "the development of a plan with civilian retirees and for there to be communication with public administration committees and associations, to return to activism for a salary scale that fairly addresses the economic and social collapse affecting a large segment of the population," demanding "the granting of entitlements to eligible individuals concerning fuel, especially after the necessary amounts were allocated for this purpose in the budget law, as procrastination will be of no use, and enough is enough with the waste of salaries or compensations."
It also urged "military retirees to overlook what happened in the last movement," affirming "not to succumb or allow any individual to unilaterally make decisions within the movement."
