UAE Condemns Israeli Control of Rafah Crossing

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Israeli forces' incursion and control of the Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza, warning of the consequences of the military escalation that threatens to result in more innocent casualties and exacerbate the humanitarian tragedy witnessed in the region. The UAE emphasized the necessity of not jeopardizing the flow of humanitarian assistance or posing any obstacles that hinder the delivery of life-saving aid to the people in Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement the UAE's strong condemnation of any forced displacement of the Palestinian brotherly people and of any practices that contravene international legitimacy and international humanitarian law.

It also called on the international community to make all efforts without delay to achieve an immediate ceasefire to avoid inflaming the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and to prevent the region from descending into new levels of violence, tension, and instability.

In this regard, the ministry praised the mediation efforts being undertaken by Qatar and Egypt to establish a ceasefire, expressing hope that these efforts will lead to de-escalation and ultimately end the war, sparing the Palestinian people further suffering, while contributing to the foundations of stability and achieving sustainable security in the region.

The ministry reiterated the UAE's position advocating for a return to negotiations to achieve the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, stressing the urgent importance of pushing towards a serious political horizon to resume negotiations for comprehensive peace, end tension and violence, protect civilian lives, and make all efforts to facilitate the urgent flow of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza through safe and unhindered corridors.
