Video - Drug Smuggling Operation to Europe Foiled

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division revealed that on August 24, 2023, the Central Anti-Drug Office within the Judicial Police Unit thwarted a drug smuggling operation involving 2.3 kg of hashish, cleverly concealed within a wooden panel. The shipment was prepared for smuggling via postal package to an European country, using a forged identity under the name of A. H. (born in 2000, Lebanese).

As a result of thorough investigations, the office's personnel identified the user of the forged identity as H. M. (born in 2000, Lebanese). Subsequently, and through cooperation between the Central Anti-Drug Office and the Special Group in the Judicial Police Unit, confirmed information was obtained that H. M. would be traveling from Baalbek to Beirut to execute another smuggling operation.

On September 10, 2023, in the location of Dhahr al-Baydar, after monitoring and tracking operations, a force from the Special Group apprehended him and also arrested another individual accompanying him, named R. J. (born in 1998, Lebanese). They were in the process of completing a significant drug smuggling operation when seized, along with a gas oven which professionally hid 130 kg of hashish, a military pistol, the forged identity, and a sum of money. Legal proceedings were initiated against them, and they were referred along with the seized items to the competent judiciary, based on its direction.

The operation was a significant effort by the Special Group and the Central Anti-Drug Office to thwart drug smuggling to Europe.
