A statement was issued by the President of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, which said: "Our stance on the issue of the illegal Syrian presence in Lebanon is a firm, principled, and sovereign stance that does not change with one billion euros or tens of billions. It does not alter with international requests or wishes; everything that is illegal cannot continue on Lebanese soil, and this matter is non-negotiable. What is only open for discussion is assistance in their deportation, not assistance in their remaining in Lebanon." He added, "After we found and felt that those who have ruled and controlled for years have failed to assume their responsibilities and have not taken any practical steps outside of political grandstanding, we began a series of initiatives on the ground with municipalities, administrations, and relevant ministries." The statement continued, "We will continue with everything we are doing until the last illegal migrant is out of Lebanon. What we have started will not stop, neither with international wishes nor with UN billions, because no priority is above the priority of the Lebanese identity, Lebanese sovereignty, and Lebanese security."
