Turkey Removes Israeli Supportive Brands from Restaurant Lists

The Turkish parliament removed products from "Coca-Cola" and "Nestlé" from its restaurant menus on Tuesday, due to their alleged support for Israel amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza, according to a statement from the parliament and a source quoted by Reuters that named the two companies. The parliament's statement read: "It has been decided that products from companies that support Israel will not be sold in the restaurants, cafeterias, and cafes located within the parliament premises." It added that the decision was made by the parliament's president, Numan Kurtulmuş, without naming the companies.

A parliamentary source told Reuters that "Coca-Cola" beverages and "Nestlé" instant coffee were the only two brands removed from the list, noting that the decision was made in response to public demand. The source stated, "The Office of the President of the Parliament did not remain indifferent to the public outcry and decided to remove the products of these companies from the cafes and restaurants in the parliament." Turkish activists have been circulating the names of these companies on social media in recent days as part of a call to boycott Israeli goods or products from Western companies that they consider supportive of Israel.
