Attorney for Brigadier General Issam Issa Explains Circumstances of Sidon Incident

A statement was issued by attorney Ayman Jazini, representing retired Brigadier General Issam Issa, outlining the following regarding a video circulating on social media and some online news sites that depicts an altercation between the client and tenants of the residential apartment owned by him and his wife in the Sidon area:

First: Retired Brigadier General Issam Issa served in the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces with dedication and loyalty, sacrificing his youth for this service, only to end up with a pension insufficient to cover his daily needs, while supporting a wife and three children.

Second: In light of this harsh reality, the only option available to the client to support himself and his family was to rent out a residential apartment they own in Sidon. The tenants deliberately failed to pay the rent until an agreement was reached to exempt them from two months’ rent in exchange for vacating the apartment and handing it back to the client, which did not happen due to their breaking of their promises and stubbornness in remaining in the apartment without paying rent.

Third: The client strongly condemns the brutal manner in which he was treated during his arrest, which included being beaten, dragged, and insulted in front of all the residents of the area, constituting an insult to all security sectors and the sacrifices he has made for the nation and its citizens.

Fourth: The client emphasizes that he will abide by the decisions of the competent judiciary in this matter and in the lawsuit he intends to file against the tenants, as their occupation of his apartment has become without legal justification, noting that he is still in custody pending investigation.
