Iranian Presidential Office Reveals Details of Raeesi's Helicopter Incident

The Iranian Presidential Office announced in a statement that the helicopter of the late President Ebrahim Raeesi encountered a "cloud" during its flight. The statement indicated that Raeesi's helicopter disappeared after the pilot was instructed to gain altitude due to the cloud. The helicopter crash on Sunday resulted in the deaths of Raeesi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and six others. Iranian officials revealed that the helicopter had to make an emergency landing due to "bad weather and fog in the area." Iran has an aging fleet of aircraft due to years of sanctions imposed on the country. In recent years, Iran has witnessed a series of plane crash incidents. Iranian state media reported that the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, ordered a "high-level committee" to open an investigation into the incident.
