Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani clarified today, Sunday, the reason behind Baghdad's request to end the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) in the country. The media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister stated that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani welcomed the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, on the occasion of the conclusion of her mission.

During the meeting, al-Sudani expressed the Iraqi government's appreciation for the UN representative due to her efforts throughout her work in Iraq, noting that "the request to end the UNAMI mission comes in light of the political and security stability Iraq is witnessing, along with the progress achieved in various fields."
