Israeli authorities announced today, Saturday, the death of a 25-year-old man as a result of gunfire in Tel Aviv, with a suspect having been arrested who is believed to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from Gaza. The Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that an unusual shooting incident occurred in Tel Aviv, where a man was killed on Menachem Begin Street on Saturday. The newspaper added, "It is believed that one of the detained suspects drew a weapon and shot the victim. Investigations are underway to determine if the suspect is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from combat in the Gaza Strip."
Yuval Shiyovitz, a paramedic with Magen David Adom (Israeli ambulance service), stated, "When we arrived at the scene, we joined the police forces there and approached a man who was lying unconscious with a penetrating wound in his body. We immediately began performing CPR, and ultimately, we had to declare his death at the scene."
An investigation conducted by the Israeli military revealed that the soldier had previously suffered from mental health issues, and as a result, he was referred for medical treatment, which he apparently refused. "Israel Hayom" noted that since October 7, hundreds of thousands of reserves have been called up, considering this one of the most difficult events in recent decades, which has led to physical and mental injuries. It added that whether it relates to direct or indirect exposure during their attacks on the sector, many members of the Israeli forces who participated in the Gaza War are experiencing developments in their condition these days into "post-traumatic stress disorder," which can lead to more severe psychological and mental states.
