The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Firas Al-Abyad, toured the central medicine warehouse in Karantina accompanied by the German ambassador in Beirut, Kurt George Stöckel-Schildfried, to review the donation provided by the German state through the World Health Organization, which consists of medical supplies specifically for treating war injuries (Trauma Kits). This represents an additional response to the emergency plan established by the Ministry of Public Health to enhance readiness due to the ongoing Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon and in case this aggression escalates. The German donation will be distributed to ten hospitals selected by the ministry as part of the emergency plan.
Minister Al-Abyad emphasized the ministry's commitment to maintaining high readiness in the healthcare sector in Lebanon so that it can meet current urgent needs and any future requirements if the Israeli aggression against Lebanon develops. He praised the World Health Organization's support for Lebanon amid various accumulating health crises, stating that the organization spares no effort in supporting the Lebanese healthcare system.
For his part, the German ambassador affirmed his country's support for the joint efforts between the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon and the World Health Organization to provide emergency health services. He stated that "Germany welcomes participation in the important work of the public health organization in Lebanon aimed at delivering health services to the most vulnerable groups and supporting the principle of health for all, even during times of crisis."
