Roma scored two early goals to pave the way for a 7-0 victory over bottom-placed Empoli in the Serie A on Sunday, achieving coach Jose Mourinho's first win of the 2023-2024 season. Paulo Dybala opened the scoring for Roma with a penalty awarded for a handball in the second minute, followed by Renato Sanches adding the second goal in the eighth minute after a cross from Rasmus Kristensen. Empoli’s Alberto Grassi scored an own goal to make it 3-0 in the 35th minute, and Dybala later added his second of the night with a powerful low shot. Bryan Cristante, Romelu Lukaku, and Gianluca Mancini also found the net in the final 11 minutes. Roma climbed out of the relegation zone to 12th place with four points from four matches, while Empoli remained at the bottom without any points or goals.
