There is no doubt that "leave" for employees is important for everyone in a workplace, but this woman never expected what happened to her. A circulating video in China sparked widespread outrage on social media after it documented an attempted murder.
The video shows a woman in a black jacket approaching her colleague's desk, opening a small bottle, and pouring a powder-like substance into the drink on the desk before quickly leaving. According to reports, the woman intended to kill her coworker to prevent her from taking "maternity leave," as per local media.
The victim noticed that her drink tasted strange, and suspecting an issue with the office water supply, she turned to bottled water but continued to notice the odd taste. A friend suggested that someone might have tampered with her drink, prompting her to use her iPad to record a video of her desk, which revealed that her colleague had poisoned her drink in an attempt to kill her.
The coworker justified her actions by stating that she did not want her colleague to take "maternity leave," as it would leave her with an increased workload. It is notable that both the accused and the victim work at the Hydrology and Water Resources Investigation Office, a government agency known for its very complicated recruitment process that involves rigorous tests and interviews.
