Title: "Hapag-Lloyd": We Consider the Situation in the Red Sea Still Dangerous

Title:

A spokesperson for the German company "Hapag-Lloyd" stated today, Tuesday, that "the company will continue to reroute its ships away from the Suez Canal and will take the route around the Cape of Good Hope for security reasons." The spokesperson of the world's fifth-largest container shipping company mentioned, "We consider that the situation remains dangerous... We are reassessing the matter daily and will make further decisions on Monday, January 15." He added: "The company does not intend to impose additional fees on customers as a result of redirecting its ships away from the Suez Canal to sail around the Cape of Good Hope." Hapag-Lloyd, like other competing companies, is avoiding the Red Sea area after the Houthi group in Yemen began targeting commercial vessels in solidarity with the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), leading to disruptions in global trade.
