Bassil Wants to Know the President's Name Before Lifting the Ban on the Government

The impasse in the governmental matter lies in the fact that it is the starting point for the presidential elections. Hezbollah, through its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah during the commemoration of Imam Hussein's fortieth yesterday, hoped that Presidents Michel Aoun and Najib Mikati would form a new government as soon as possible to prepare for the presidential elections on time, agreeing on a new president away from challenge. According to sources from "Anbaa," the issue here is that the president of Lebanon is usually not chosen within Lebanon, and the trio or quartet involved in selecting the Lebanese president met in Paris and will meet in New York. However, up until now, no one has been named or hinted at, and this is part of the reasons obstructing the government, as the President of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Deputy Gebran Bassil, as sources following the matter state, wants to know the name of the president before lifting the prohibition on forming the government so he can have a say in it, after becoming convinced that he is out of the race, along with Sleiman Frangieh and Samir Geagea, in his belief. At the very least, he must agree on the name of who will assume the presidency in the upcoming phase. It was clear that Nasrallah, whose party is undertaking efforts with "the Movement," is caught in the deadlock regarding Bassil's stance, and he confirmed his previous positions on the issue of maritime borders, stating that Israel starting to extract gas from the Karish field before Lebanon can do so is a red line: "We eat grapes and do not want problems."
