Death of Former Football Star O.J. Simpson: Did He Kill His Wife?

The former American football legend and actor O.J. Simpson has died at the age of 76, as announced by his family. They wrote on social media platform "X": “On April 10, our father Orenthal James Simpson passed away after his battle with cancer.” They added that he died surrounded by his children and grandchildren. The statement continued: “During this transition period, his family requests that you respect their desire for privacy and grace.”

Who is Simpson? Orenthal James Simpson (nicknamed O.J. Simpson) was born on July 9, 1947, in San Francisco. He was a prominent American football player. He played for the University of Southern California, winning the Heisman Trophy as the best college player in 1968. He was also known as "The Juice." He later played for the Buffalo Bills (from 1969 to 1977) and the San Francisco 49ers (from 1978 to 1979), rushing for a total of 11,236 yards throughout his professional career. In one season, he broke the record for the most rushing yards, achieving 2,003 yards in 1973, and the most touchdowns, scoring 23 times in 1975. After retiring as a player, he worked as a sports commentator and an actor.

In 1994, he was accused of murdering his ex-wife and her friend, but he was acquitted in 1995 after a trial saturated with media coverage, which highlighted the tensions and racial divisions in American society. In September 2007, Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with several felonies, including armed robbery and kidnapping. He was convicted and sentenced in 2008 to 33 years in prison, with a minimum of nine years without the possibility of parole. He served his sentence in Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada and was later released on parole in 2017.
