Palestinian Scholars: No One Has the Right to Control the Fate of the Camp!

Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Mouaid, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee and spokesman for the Council of Palestinian Scholars in Lebanon and abroad, condemned the recent events in the Ain Al-Hilweh camp, stating that the fighting, resulting in one death and several injuries, has led to a significant number of people fleeing the area, without consideration for the dire economic conditions and the sanctity of lives, properties, and dignity.

He emphasized: "The sanctity of fighting and shedding blood is absolute, especially as we approach the month of mercy and forgiveness, the blessed month of Ramadan which is only days away." He asserted that the fate of the camp should be decided by the Palestinian people in all their diversity, guided by reason, conscience, and fear of God, and not by individuals, parties, or movements. He stated that no one has the right to control the fate of the camp and the lives and security of its people for known personal, partisan, and revengeful motives that do not serve the Palestinian cause. Instead, such actions harm the camp's symbolism as a beacon of exile, resistance, and the right of return.

He called on Islamic forces, coalition powers, factions, and the people of the camp to preserve the camp's security, safety, and unity. He added: "We must quash the sedition at its root and seek a swift solution to prevent bloodshed, even if it means handing the killer over to the state and the Lebanese judiciary, to contain all the conspiracies and deny harmful ambitions towards the camp, based on the legal principle of averting harm and bringing benefits."

He concluded by emphasizing the need to keep the focus on Palestine and support the resistance in Jenin, Jerusalem, Nablus, and the West Bank, which are currently witnessing significant struggles against the Zionist enemy. He noted that the recent martyrdom of six individuals in Jenin should unite their ranks and steer them away from any fighting or secondary disputes that could harm their cause and the morale and determination of their fighters in the Lions' Den and the Jenin Brigades, as well as all the resistors in the West Bank. It is worth mentioning that the camp has experienced tensions amid warnings of a new cycle of violence.
