Kuwait: Discovery of Marijuana Farm at the Home of a Sheikh from the Ruling Family

The Kuwaiti public prosecutor issued a decision today, Sunday, to detain a Sheikh from the ruling family for 21 days pending investigation and to refer him to central prison, following the discovery of a marijuana farm at his residence. The Ministry of Interior of Kuwait revealed in an official statement that a member of the ruling family was found cultivating marijuana at his home, along with three individuals of Asian nationality who were in possession of narcotic substances.

The interior ministry's statement indicated that 270 marijuana plants of various sizes were discovered along with approximately 5.13 kg of ready-to-use marijuana, in addition to 4,150 Captagon pills, 620 marijuana cigarettes, 50 grams of hashish, and 21 grams of cocaine. It was also noted that six containers of marijuana oil, 27 grams of psychedelic mushrooms, two electronic cigarettes containing marijuana, three pieces of marijuana-infused candy, and 10 bottles of alcohol were found.

The ministry confirmed that all necessary legal procedures will be taken to refer the accused and the seized substances to the drug prosecution for appropriate action.
