Lebanon's caretaker Foreign Minister Abdullah Bohabib affirmed that "we have reached a point of no return in Lebanon regarding the Syrian displacement issue, and we came to propose sustainable solutions that ensure the return of displaced persons to their country with dignity and safety." He emphasized that "if a Lebanese explosion occurs, it will have repercussions on neighboring countries, including Europe, and maintaining the status quo poses an existential threat to Lebanon."
In his speech at the Syrian Displacement Conference in Brussels, he called for the establishment of a "roadmap for sustainable solutions" and noted that the continued funding for displaced persons where they are poses a danger to Syria's neighbors, urging a review of the policies of donor countries. Bohabib confirmed that "there is no solution without various countries at the dialogue table, and our country can no longer bear this level of displacement. We bear the responsibility for our failure to find solutions amid the presidential vacancy and economic reforms, and we share with the international community the need to find solutions to the instability in the south."
