Israeli warplanes targeted the home of Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al-Sharif today, Monday, in Jabalia camp in northern Gaza, resulting in the death of his father. This bombing came after threats received by Al-Sharif from the Israeli army. Al-Sharif stated in a call with Al Jazeera that the airstrikes hit the home where his father, Jamal (65 years old), lived in Jabalia, leading to his immediate death. He added that he was unable to reach the house after the bombing due to ongoing Israeli shelling. He noted that he had to bury his father in the yard of a school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), where displaced individuals reside. Regarding the reason for targeting his family's home, the Palestinian journalist said that the occupation does not want the truth to be revealed. Anas pledged to continue covering the Israeli army's crimes against Palestinians in Gaza. Al Jazeera accused the Israeli army of targeting the home of one of its journalists in Gaza, resulting in his father's death. The Qatar-based network stated that the targeting of journalist Anas Al-Sharif's home came "after threats he received since November." Furthermore, it called on the international community to take urgent measures to stop the massacres committed by the occupation army against journalists and civilians in Gaza.
