Washington Warns That Escalation in Lebanon Will Endanger Israel's Security

The United States warned today, Wednesday, against "escalation" in Lebanon after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to carry out a military operation in the country, stating that the outbreak of a conflict would only harm Israel's security. U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters: "We do not want to see an escalation of the conflict that would only lead to more loss of life among both Israeli and Lebanese populations, and it could cause tremendous harm to Israel's security and stability in the region."
