Barolin Calls for the Election of a President for Lebanon

The Secretary of State of the Vatican, Cardinal Pietro Barolin, participated in a celebration for the literary award for ambassadors accredited to the Holy See. Barolin emphasized the need to continue diplomatic activities in order to achieve peace, pointing out that "the responsibility rests on everyone's shoulders." He spoke about the situation in Lebanon, stressing the "importance of electing a new president for the republic," and expressing hope that "the Christian component plays an active role in this regard."
