Strida Geagea: I Urge the Resistance Team to Approach Matters Rationally

Deputy Strida Geagea, during her presidency of the Board of Directors of the "Mountain of Cedar" Foundation in Ma’rab, confirmed that "politicians in Lebanon are of two types: some have principles and constants that govern their political positioning, and you see them as individuals with a cause they are fighting for, while others only care about immediate personal benefits and you see them shifting their allegiances as these interests change. Acknowledging this reality, these individuals claim today that they are working for Christian interests, but the truth is that they do what they do to reposition themselves politically in order to enhance their personal gains. The Lebanese people must be aware of this and not be deceived by the sporadic stances of this group, as they have always changed. This has been the case and will continue to be."

She pointed out that "the presidential election is an electoral matter as stipulated by the constitution, and as we have said since Lebanon entered the constitutional timeframe on September 1, 2022, which has been a year and a half, the only solution for electing a new president of the republic is to apply the constitution and open an election session with successive rounds that will not adjourn until a new president is elected."

Strida stressed that "Lebanon is currently facing significant dangers with the developments of regional and international situations as they have reached. Therefore, I urge the 'Resistance' team to stop being stubborn and to return to a rational approach to matters, and to cease obstructing the presidential elections, because any rational person in this world knows that their aspirations in this regard are impossible. They must therefore submit to the Lebanese constitution that supersedes everyone and allow the democratic process to take its course."

She also called on this axis "not to lead Lebanon into adventures that it cannot withstand, neither in humanitarian terms nor in economic, financial, and monetary aspects, especially since it is the right of the Lebanese people to decide their destiny themselves. All this people want today is to emerge from the tunnel of crises they have been thrown into since 2019, and to live in peace and reassurance."
