A post by Jordan's King Abdullah on X platform and official media reported that members of the Jordanian air force successfully delivered urgent medical aid via air to the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza early this Monday. The King stated, "Our fearless air force personnel air-dropped at midnight urgent medical aid to the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza. This is our duty to aid our brothers and sisters injured in the war on Gaza. We will always be there for our Palestinian brethren."
The official Jordanian news agency quoted a military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces saying, "A Royal Air Force plane airdropped urgent medical aid using parachutes for the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza, which is running low on supplies due to delays in aid delivery through the Rafah crossing." The source added that this step continues Jordan's efforts to support its "brothers" amid the conflict in the Gaza Strip. It confirmed that the hospital continues to operate despite acute shortages of supplies and is carrying out its humanitarian role to alleviate the suffering of the population in the area.
Last week, Jordan announced that it summoned its ambassador to Israel and requested that the Israeli ambassador remain outside the country in protest against Israeli bombardments of the Gaza Strip, stating that the attacks kill innocents and cause a humanitarian catastrophe. Health officials in the Gaza Strip reported that more than 9,770 Palestinians have been killed in the war that began when Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, resulting in the deaths of 1,400 people and the capture of over 240 hostages.
