Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, at the start of a long-awaited visit to Washington, indicated that "the differences between the United States and China need an 'in-depth' and 'comprehensive' dialogue" to reduce misunderstandings and achieve stable relations. Speaking alongside U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, he stated, "The two countries share important interests and challenges that need to be resolved together."
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan are set to meet with China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, during his three-day visit to Washington, according to senior administration officials.
Wang Yi continued: "Therefore, China and the United States need dialogue. We should not only resume dialogue but it should be in-depth and comprehensive." He noted that "dialogue will help minimize misunderstandings and contribute to stabilizing relations, returning them to a sound, stable, and sustainable development path." Blinken responded by saying, "I agree with what the Foreign Minister said."
