Urgent Judicial Ruling Regarding Actress Nasrin Tafesh: What Did It Include?

The Court of Misdemeanor Appeals in October ruled today, Wednesday, that the criminal case has ceased in the appeal submitted by actress Nasrin Tafesh against her three-year prison sentence in a case involving a bounced check, due to reconciliation. Actress Nasrin Tafesh arrived at the Court of Misdemeanor Appeals in October to attend the hearing of her appeal against the three-year prison sentence in the bounced check case. She appeared with a bag containing 4 million Egyptian pounds upon her arrival at the court.

Nasrin Tafesh's lawyer requested reconciliation in the case under appeal regarding the three-year prison sentence for the bounced check. Earlier, the Misdemeanor Court in October, at the South Giza Primary Court, Division 16, had dismissed Nasrin Tafesh's opposition to her three-year prison sentence in case number 1636 for the year 2023, upholding the initial ruling.

The Public Prosecution accused Nasrin Tafesh in Sheikh Zayed on January 30, 2023, of issuing, in bad faith, a check in favor of the victim, Noshwa Safa Al-Din, for an amount of 4 million Egyptian pounds. The case indicated, according to the court's conviction, as established in the documents and the evidence report, that the defendant issued a bank check dated January 30, 2023, in favor of the mentioned victim, and it was found that there were no existing and withdrawable funds to cover it, with the defendant being aware of that.

The defense for the victim supported their claim with a photocopy of bank checks dated the same date, showing an order from the defendant to the bank to pay the mentioned amount to the victim, signed by the defendant, as well as a photocopy of the bank’s rejection of the check due to insufficient funds. The court sentenced the defendant in absentia on June 26, 2023, to three years of imprisonment with hard labor and a bail of twenty thousand pounds to temporarily suspend the execution of the sentence.
