Former U.S. President Donald Trump invited indicted rappers associated with a gang case to the stage at a rally supporting his campaign this week in the Bronx. Michael Williams, known as "Sheff G," is a 25-year-old rapper whose songs and videos have garnered millions of views on YouTube and other platforms. He is considered a key figure in the gang case uncovered by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez over a year ago while he was serving a separate sentence for attempted weapon possession.
Teagan Chambers, 24, who has nearly 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, faces conspiracy charges in the gang case, and both he and "Sheff G" have pleaded not guilty. The appearance of the presumptive Republican presidential candidate alongside gang suspects comes as Trump himself is on trial for illicit financial issues in New York, where he has repeatedly criticized New York and other Democrat-run cities for being crime-laden. Trump has also criticized the Manhattan District Attorney prosecuting him for "allowing violent crimes to spread throughout our city."
Amid the campaign rally, Donald Trump energized his supporters with his famous dance. In a circulated video, Trump can be seen alternating his arm movements with his feet amid significant interaction from the large crowd that supported him. Trump supporters held up his images and cheered loudly while chanting his name in an enthusiastic and noisy display.
