Israeli broadcasting authority reported today, Thursday, that the war council has instructed the negotiation team to continue discussions regarding the return of captives after a new proposal was presented that received unanimous support from council members. Earlier, Western reports spoke of accusations against Egypt for altering the terms of the ceasefire proposal in Gaza, which Israel had signed, ultimately leading to the deal's collapse. However, a high-ranking Egyptian source indicated to "Sky News Arabia" that "some parties continue to play the blame game against the mediators, accusing them of bias and shifting responsibility to avoid making necessary decisions." The source explained that Egypt's role as a mediator in the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages came after persistent requests and insistence to undertake this role. It is noteworthy that negotiations for the ceasefire and the exchange of hostages and prisoners have stumbled multiple times, allowing Israel to continue its war on Gaza, which has been ongoing for more than seven months.
