Jordan: Syria a Fertile Ground for All Crimes

Jordan's Interior Minister, Mazen Al-Faraya, stated today, Sunday, that the kingdom has no tangible evidence confirming that a specific state is responsible for attempts to smuggle drugs and weapons across its northern borders. According to the "Ammon" agency, Al-Faraya's remarks came during his attendance at the cultural salon held by the Greater Amman Municipality, where he emphasized that "the nature and scale of smuggling indicate that the matter is more than just financial."

Al-Faraya pointed out that "a smuggler apprehended by Jordan does not know the details of the operation; they are only required to perform tasks from 'Stage A' to 'Stage B,' while others are tasked with executing the subsequent stages. Attempts to smuggle weapons into the kingdom are aimed at trafficking and other matters."

The Jordanian Interior Minister explained that the majority of drug smuggling attempts to his country target Gulf states, adding that "Syria is a fertile ground for all types of crime, and all the groups present there are willing to do anything to financially support themselves."

He reaffirmed that "Jordan is politically and security stable, with security being a relative matter measured by the size of challenges," noting that "the crime rate in the kingdom is within its natural limits, while the Jordanian government tries to keep the impact of the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip on the kingdom to a minimum."
