Iraq: Company Trading Expired Medications Seized

The Iraqi Directorate General for Intelligence and Security announced today, Tuesday, the seizure of a company trading expired and counterfeit medications in Baghdad. In a statement, it said, "Through precise intelligence efforts and diligent field monitoring, the Baghdad Intelligence and Security Directorates, affiliated with the Directorate General for Intelligence and Security of the Ministry of Defense, in coordination with the National Security Agency and a unit from the Organized Crime Directorate, managed to seize one of the pharmaceutical companies engaged in trading expired medications and arrested a suspect inside the company in one of the capital areas."

It added that "the force also seized a storage and a fake pharmaceutical factory containing counterfeit medications, printed boxes ready for packaging, unofficial labels and stickers, as well as a machine for filling and packaging medications." It confirmed that "the suspect and the seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities."
