Iraq Seeks Productive Economic Partnerships

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed today, Thursday, that Iraq is moving towards major developmental and strategic projects and productive economic partnerships. The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement that "al-Sudani received this evening a delegation of Secretaries and Governors of Arab capitals, headed by the Secretary-General of the Arab Towns Organization, Abdul Rahman Hisham Al-Asfour." At the beginning of the meeting, al-Sudani welcomed the Arab guests and their gathering in Baghdad after a hiatus of more than three decades, emphasizing Baghdad's continuous readiness and ability to host all its guests, whether they are Arab brothers or friends.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister confirmed "Iraq's commitment to major developmental projects and productive economic partnerships," noting that "the government in Iraq has prioritized the comprehensive advancement of Baghdad and other Iraqi cities, in addition to opening up to the successful experiences of our Arab and friendly nations regarding reliance on technology and advanced methods in urban development and all service sectors."

Al-Sudani indicated that "while we seek the best ways to develop our cities and uplift them, Gaza stands before us due to the systematic destruction and devastation and the loss of basic means of living caused by the aggression and inhumane crimes perpetrated by the occupying authorities against our Palestinian people there." He renewed his support for "the establishment of a support and reconstruction fund for the Gaza Strip after halting the aggression, a initiative launched by Iraq during the Cairo Peace Summit 2023, which was held last October and received a great welcome."
