The Russian company SR Space announced that it is working on developing a new generation of lightweight space rockets. The company's General Director, Oleg Mansurov, stated, "Our experts have completed the preliminary designs for the two-stage lightweight Cosmos rockets that we are developing." He added, "We have completed the preliminary design for the Cosmos rocket, and we are also working on the development project for the Nebo rockets. Work is underway to develop the payload fairings and nose protection sections for both rockets, as well as to produce control and communication systems and other necessary equipment. We have signed contracts with several companies for this purpose." The new Cosmos rockets that SR Space is developing are lightweight space rockets that operate on liquid oxygen and methane, with each rocket expected to weigh 13.5 tons and capable of carrying a payload of 287 kg to altitudes of up to 200 km.
