Moroccan security arrested 4 individuals loyal to the "ISIS" organization, aged between 21 and 41, on suspicion of being involved in planning terrorist schemes aimed at severely undermining public order. A statement from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation, released on Thursday, noted that special forces from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance carried out intervention and arrest procedures in separate and simultaneous operations targeting the suspects in the cities of Salé, Tangier, and Tetouan.
The statement added that searches conducted at the homes of the arrested individuals led to the seizure of a collection of electronic equipment, various sizes of bladed weapons, as well as a piece of fabric depicting the "ISIS" logo. Additionally, extremist manuscripts similar to the organization’s "bay'ah" text, publications on the legitimacy of "martyrdom operations," and instructions on how to manufacture and assemble explosives and explosive devices were also discovered.
According to initial research findings, the suspects, who were deeply influenced by the extremist ideology of "ISIS" and declared their allegiance to its leader, were planning high-risk terrorist projects targeting vital and sensitive facilities in the kingdom, as they actively engaged in preparatory activities for monitoring and identifying targets. The investigation also revealed that the suspects, who had gained expertise in the field of manufacturing explosives, had established connections with "ISIS" leaders operating abroad to support them and adopt their destructive projects as soon as they were implemented in the kingdom.
