U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israeli-Palestinian Affairs, Andrew Miller, resigned from his position today, Friday. Sources told Al Jazeera that Miller had intended to resign for some time due to the U.S. administration's stance on the Gaza war. The sources noted that Miller "had hoped for a significant change in the position of President Joe Biden's administration and sought to moderate policies from within the government," adding that "Miller's decision was reinforced by the stance on the Rafah attack and the Biden administration's failure to address Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's stubborn position." The sources also revealed that "Miller cited family reasons as justification for his departure and resignation." It is worth noting that Miller is the highest U.S. diplomatic official in contact with war policy to resign from his position.
