First Turkish Astronaut Involved in Ground Accident

Alper Gezeravci, the first Turkish astronaut, was involved in a traffic accident in Kocaeli province. The accident occurred in the Yenidoğan neighborhood on the D-100 highway heading towards Ankara, where a medium-sized bus collided with the car Gezeravci was in from behind. After medical teams and police were dispatched to the scene, he was taken as a precaution to Kocaeli City Hospital by ambulance. It was reported that he was in good health. Kocaeli Governor Seddar Yavuz, who visited the hospital where Alper Gezeravci and the two other people with him were taken, made a statement to reporters. Yavuz stated that Gezeravci and the others were in good condition, saying, "All necessary images and analyses have been conducted. So far, no injuries have been detected, and they are currently in the hospital for follow-up purposes."
