New Japanese-Saudi Cooperation

Japan and Saudi Arabia held a bilateral business forum in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss enhancing cooperation in energy and other sectors. Japanese Minister of Industry Ken Saito noted during the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030 Business Forum that "Saudi Arabia is the largest supplier of crude oil to Japan and one of the most important partners regarding energy security." The Saudi Power Purchasing Company pointed out that it "has signed two agreements with a consortium led by Japan's Marubeni Corporation to purchase energy from the Al-Ghat Wind Power Project with a capacity of 600 megawatts and the Waad Al-Shamal Wind Power Project with a capacity of 500 megawatts." It is worth mentioning that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had postponed an official visit to Japan that was scheduled from May 20 to 23.
