"Serious Security Risks in Rafah": Shoukry Warns Blinken!

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned of the "dire humanitarian consequences that will affect more than 1.4 million Palestinians due to the closure of the Rafah crossing and the ongoing large-scale Israeli assaults." Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid noted in a statement that "Shoukry received a phone call today, Monday, from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, discussing the developments in the Gaza Strip."

The statement highlighted that "Shoukry emphasized to his American counterpart the serious security risks arising from the continued Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the Palestinian city of Rafah, and the serious threat this poses to regional stability." He added: "The two ministers stressed the importance of opening land crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip and providing sufficient humanitarian aid to meet the urgent needs of the population in the strip, while reiterating their rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians from their land."

The statement revealed that "the ministers agreed to continue close consultation and coordination regarding the overall developments of the crisis in the Gaza Strip, supporting ways to contain its repercussions, and preventing escalation and the spread of violence to other parts of the region."
