The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced the date for the first launch of the heavy Ariane 6 space rocket. In a statement issued by the agency, it was revealed: "Our experts have shortened the launch timeline for the Ariane 6 rocket. The first launch attempt is expected to take place in the first two weeks of July 2024." The agency promised to disclose the exact launch date during the Berlin Air Show, which will be held from June 5 to June 9.
The director-general of the European Space Agency mentioned in 2022 that the first launch of the Ariane 6 rocket is expected to be conducted from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana, in collaboration with Arianespace. In November 2023, he stated during a press conference that the agency anticipates launching the new rocket between June 15 and July 31, 2024, and that the first flight of the rocket will be a test flight, without transporting a significant amount of equipment into space.
Ariane 6 is a new generation of heavy space rockets, which are expected to replace the Ariane 5 rockets that were launched from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana between 1996 and 2023.
