Miqati at the Closing of the Twinning Project with Europe and Italy: Global Challenges Require Effort and Cooperation

The caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati sponsored the closing ceremony of the twinning project between the European Union, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority, and the Lebanese Directorate General of Civil Aviation, "to enhance the capabilities of civil aviation authorities in Lebanon in the fields of safety and security," held this morning at the Middle East Airlines Training and Conference Center.

In his speech, the Prime Minister stated: "Today marks a milestone in the history of Lebanese aviation as we gather here at Middle East Airlines in Beirut to celebrate the successful efforts of the twinning project, which serves as a model for the strength of international cooperation in developing our country's capabilities in safety and security. The twinning project, with its remarkable achievements, will be a model for other government agencies to emulate."

He continued: "In today's globalized environment, the aviation industry is not merely a mode of transportation; rather, it is a bridge connecting people, cultures, and economies. It stands as a testament to human skills and is a major driver of economic growth, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Therefore, the challenges we face in the aviation sector are not limited to national borders, but are global challenges that require collective effort and international cooperation."

Miqati added: "Issues such as safety, security, sustainability, and innovation in aviation are shared concerns that affect us all, regardless of geography or nationality. Through cooperation in research and development, sharing best practices, and investing in the latest technologies, we can take significant steps to improve the efficiency, safety, and environmental impact of air travel. This collaborative approach benefits not only the aviation industry but also contributes to achieving broader goals of economic development, environmental protection, and global security."

He emphasized that "Lebanon is committed to playing an active and effective role in this global effort. We seek to strengthen our relationships with international partners, engage in multilateral forums, and contribute to the global dialogue on aviation. Through cooperation and mutual support, we can overcome the obstacles that hinder progress in the aviation sector and open new opportunities for growth and innovation."

In conclusion, he expressed his sincere appreciation to the European Union, Italy, and the relevant Lebanese administrations, especially the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation and the team at Middle East Airlines, for their unwavering support and dedication. "Your contributions have not only enhanced the safety and security of the aviation sector in Lebanon but also strengthened ties between Lebanon and the international community. On this occasion, I reiterate the remarks made by the Minister of Public Works regarding the European Union’s serious endeavor to prevent any interference with communication systems and ensure their safety in the Eastern Mediterranean."
